Grand Haven Afternoon and Other Randomness

Well, it’s been a bit since my last entry here so I through I’d stop by.  Yesterday we spent the afternoon in Grand Haven, MI – meeting with some of Andy’s coworkers to try out JW’s burrito special.  I twas a little too chilly to walk the pier, but I took some shots from the parking lot.

We stopped at Earth’s Edge because I wanted to see if they had any good gear.  No luck on that, but Andy upt on a lovely hat fashion show for me (I swore I wouldn’t post pictures).

For the last month, I’ve been back at the gym trying to shed some of my jiggliness.  I decided on a local Snap Fitness which has really workd out well.  I’m back to lifting weights and thankfully my injuries haven’t been causing too much problem.  I’m happy I’m already seeing some results.

My trip is still a long 5 months away, but I’ve been doing some planning and have come up with a handful (big handful) of things that I still need.  Well, Mom and Dad are great and for Christmas they got me a SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger with a year of service.  This is a super handy device that allows family and friends to rack your trip on Google Maps, and in an emergency call for help even where there is no cell service.  Hopefully it will ease my mom’s stress while I’m out on the road.

Here SPOT!!

Fall and winter bring much more reading for me, I’ve read a few so far and have been keeping to the Motorcycle Adventure theme.  My last read was Lois on the Loose in which a British woman rides a XT225 from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, 20, 000 miles in total, definitely an entertaining read!!  I’m currently reading two books, “The Longes Ride:  My Ten-year 500,000 Mile Motorcycle Journey” which is pretty decent so far and “The New Rules of Lifting for Women:  Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess” which I’m hoping will help me out at the gym.

That’s about it for tonight.  Stay tuned in the coming months for my prep for the upcoming trip.

This is what I walked in to see when I got to work today 😂. My long time coworkers readily admitted that with the antics of my early adulthood, they didn't think I'd live to see this milestone 😬 #birthday #40thbirthday #thebig40 Mira wasn't thrilled about the hike back to the Jeep yesterday morning. After I pulled the bear bag down and grabbed her treats, she perked up and was ready to go! Our second backpacking trip went well, she was much more at ease sleeping in the tent. I'm so glad my old girl still is fit and spry and can share these adventures with me! #australianshepherd #australianshepherdsofinstagram #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #backpackingwithdogs #backpacking #camping #campingwithdogs #hiking #hikingwithdogs #northcountrytrail #tahquamenonfalls #michigan #olddogsrule #seniordog People watching at Upper Tahquamenon Falls. #australianshepherd #australianshepherdsofinstagram #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #herdingdog #tahquamenonfalls #michigan #waterfall #puremichigan #ruffwear #olddogsrule #seniordog I don't think any photo could better demonstrate Mira's look of displeasure at me interrupting her attempt to drink Lake Superior in its entirety than this one does 😂 #australianshepherd #australianshepherdsofinstagram #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #lakesuperior #michigan #upperpeninsula #crisppointlighthouse #dog #water
